This cape looks like it came right out of a Toulouse Lautrec painting. Perfectly decadent, Victorian, sensational! This is undoubtedly the most gorgeous of all the capes I've made this year. It is absolutely soft and also very warm so your shoulders will be happy every time you wear it. Put it over your most glamorous evening dress and go have fun! Be a vamp! Drive everyone who sees you wild with envy! This capelet is hand knitted and crocheted with two luscious yarns -- an alpaca and wool soft handspun in ruby (actually a bit deeper than in the photos) and a 100% soft Merino in black. The body of the capelet is knitted in the alpaca blend. You can see from the stitches that the yarn is a singles (not plied) and results in a variation of the stitch size that's quite appealing. The look is handspun, but refined. The neck ruffle and the lace edging are crocheted with Merino wool to form a very graceful, very Victorian cape. The handmade button closure is vintage 1930s - 1940s and is very rare indeed, as well as being beautiful. This capelet is sized to fit from extra-small to medium. It would make a wonderful present and comes gift wrapped in colorful tissue paper with satin ribbon. © KnittingGuru, 2009. All rights reserved.
