Chanel's Fall 2009 collection gets a shot of toughness from black winged eyeliner, lace tights, and fingerless gloves. I love the look of a prim boucle suit artfully tousled with a smattering of rock n' roll accessories. Like many collections this season, Chanel played with textures and volume, incorporating sheers, beading, feathers and ruffles into its signature layered, ladies-who-lunch look. I especially love the stark contrast of black and white and punches of glitter from embellished necklines and lapels.
I love the way this collection plays with textures and detail-- nude and lace, ruffles and feathers, and peekaboo elements like a bit of sheer mesh peering out from underneath a bouffant of rosettes or a flash of structured vintage lingerie emerging from the high side slit of an evening gown or underlining a sheer cocktail dress. This collection, with its balance of heavy/light, tough/sweet, and rock n' roll/rive gauche, is one of my favorites of the Fall 09 couture season. It's so sexy, chic, and powerful.
Hot hot hot!!
