Large plume feathers rather have a regal appeal to them. This lovely vintage handkerchief is done is 2 shades of green with a feather design in black, grey and white. The four corners each have a large feather with smaller ones along the sides. The center has a smaller print feather design. This large hankie measures about 16.5" square and still retains original label which read Hand printed. From the estate of a former handkerchief salesman. A beauty for any collection!
Chanel's Fall 2009 collection gets a shot of toughness from black winged eyeliner, lace tights, and fingerless gloves. I love the look of a prim boucle suit artfully tousled with a smattering of rock n' roll accessories. Like many collections this season, Chanel played with textures and volume, incorporating sheers, beading, feathers and ruffles into its signature layered, ladies-who-lunch look. I especially love the stark contrast of black and white and punches of glitter from embellished necklines and lapels.
This collection consists exclusively of bridal looks, from the classic and demure to the slightly more unconventional. For me, wedding dresses are tough because you want to strike a balance between fashionable and timeless. You want the dress to reflect your immediate sense of style but still look fresh in pictures 20 years later, which means going too trendy may come back to haunt you like the day-glo rouge and bruise-purple eyeshadow caked on my mother's face at her 1981 marriage to my dad. Anyways, I especially loved Saab's use of texture and embelllishment, like her 60s-tinged sheer column dresses with explosions of flowers and hemlines finished with rosettes and feathers. For the most part, her designs are stylish enough to be chic both in the moment and in albums years later (save some of the wilder designs, like a micro mini boucle skirt suit with a bra top, high-waisted white skinny jeans, and few boldly asymmetrical bodices, which may lead to some WTF moments when browsing photos later on down the line.)

I love the way this collection plays with textures and detail-- nude and lace, ruffles and feathers, and peekaboo elements like a bit of sheer mesh peering out from underneath a bouffant of rosettes or a flash of structured vintage lingerie emerging from the high side slit of an evening gown or underlining a sheer cocktail dress. This collection, with its balance of heavy/light, tough/sweet, and rock n' roll/rive gauche, is one of my favorites of the Fall 09 couture season. It's so sexy, chic, and powerful.
The Wildfox Light Feather Tee in Black, a favorite of Vanessa Hudgens and Kristin Cavallari, is a vintage-inspired gem. Made from a soft washed cotton, the tee features a relaxed 3/4 sleeves and a feminine drape. Its brown, pink and blue hawk feather screen-print design gives the easy-to-wear tee its finishing touch.
Semi sheer woven top with self tie straps at smocked v-neck. Wide sleeves. A separate slip with lace hem included.
