matara seal vintage chocolate brown 1960s vineyard coat

AUTHENTIC MATARA DYED SEAL FUR COAT GOVERNMENT LEGAL & NOT ENDANGERED! This is an absolutely stunning chocolate brown Matara dyed Alaskan seal fur coat. Extensive research has shown that this species (Alaskan Seal) is NOT endangered. In fact, they are abundant. Here is an exerpt from furhatsinfo.com about this fur: "Alaska, or northern, fur seal: This seal is a perfect example of how an endangered species can be revived through good conservation and animal management to the point that its numbers are so large that, without hunting, it could overwhelm its environment. Like sable in Russia, Alaskan seal is controlled by the government, in this case the United States government. The seals are caught under the auspices of the government; the pelts are processed by one company under contract to the government and are auctioned by that same company. The proceeds go mainly to the government. The reason for the government's use of only one company is that seal is extremely difficult to process, and no other company can meet the standards. Seal is the most processed fur, requiring 129 steps from the point of tanning the pelt, to plucking the guard hairs and shearing, to rubbing the dye into the pelt by hand. Alaska seal is always plucked and sheared because of the very coarse guard hairs. The texture is very soft, like velvet, which allows it to be draped in the same way as cloth. It's always dyed, too, with the dark brown seal called Matara. Despite the dyeing, however, it's one of the most durable furs, wearing eighteen to twenty years with care." A check of the USFW Endangered species list shows that this fur is not endangered. PLEASE NOTE ON THE CERTIFICATE OF APPRAISAL THE SECOND HANDWRITTEN LINE THAT DESCRIBES THIS COAT & THE VALUE AT THAT TIME. The coat has been very well cared for, and has absolutely no issues at all. It is SUPREMELY SOFT! Almost like a very thick and soft velvet. I've never felt fur like this before. It features hook & eye closures in the front and a dark brown leather belt. The belt passes through the inside back of the coat & exits at 2 slits cut in the sides to tie in the front. It is made by Sabau Fur. Please use my measurements for proper sizing. Measurements: Shoulders: 17 inches across Bust: 34 inches with some leeway Length of coat: 33 inches from nape to hem Sleeves: 24 inches Please ask questions before bidding.
