This is a rare vintage find. A Mexican wedding dress made of embroidered black cotton strips and black lace. The embroidery is all done by hand on medium weight cotton with alternating strips of heavy black lace. This dress has bell sleeves and and a semi fitted bodice with bust and waist darts. It is a floor length "caftan" style dress, with a metal zipper back closure. I've attempted a lot of research on this dress and the closest I can get to dating it is anywhere between 1930's and 1950's my best guess would be 1940's. This dress is in very good condition with a little lace fraying on the shoulder. This is a sweet little shabby style, girls "baby doll" dress made from fancy vintage, cotton "linens", lace placemats, and cutwork embroidered table napkins, the bodice band and straps are made from a vintage slip case. The skirt pieces are set on point and cut on the bias to create a beautiful drape, and flow for the handkerchief hem. This dress would be so cute over a longer "petticoat" skirt, or over bloomers, pants, or leggings. This is such a cute casual, cotton eyelet, lace dress from the 1960's, just waiting for summertime. This dress is a sweet butter colored, almost sheer cotton dress,with the most delicate of details, it's embroidered eyelet lace and French heirloom hand sewing make it so special, worn alone, or over a bathing suit or jeans. It has a ruffled collar and silk satin piping, around the neckline and the armholes, sewn on with the tiniest of hand sewn stitches, and it has mother of pearl buttons down the length of the back closure, it falls just below knee length. This dress was hand made by a very skilled artisan, and it is extremely good condition with no holes, rips, or stains, no discoloration or worn spots, it is just gorgeous!!!
