"My pieces articulate life in transformation, growth, inevitable deterioration and regeneration. Using an aluminum bowl as a three dimentional canvass results in a sculptural form that can be viewed in several way depending on placement and lighting. In some pieces the cast of the shadow is as important as the object itself. Working with several layers of color on a deeply etched , hammered or hand brushed surface I attempt to narrow the line between delicacy and durability. My intention is to convey a visual impression of fragility grounded in the inherent strength of the material used."
