Here is a vintage late 30's Jantzen Black Wool & Lastex Bathing Suit Swimsuit. Done in a textured knit, this suit has seaming under the bust, but does not have inside cups or lining. The straps are stationary and there is an attached ajustable string tie in the center back. oval o rings on each strap. A modesty panel at the front and back with boy cut leg openings. The Jantzen Diving Girl patch adorns the hip line. Swimsuit has stretch to the knit. Made of Lastex & Wool.

Truly a work of art from designer Rudi Gernreich, a man before his time. This suit date to the mid 50's. Gorgeous sheath style pink wool swimsuit was featured on the cover of Colliers magazine on June 8, 1956. We have a copy of the magazine and are including it along with this swimsuit in the sale. This suit can also be seen here in the retrospective of Rudi's work that was held at the 2001 Institute of Contemporary Art at the University of Pennsylvania. Vintage mid 50's Rudi Gernreich for Westwood Coral Pink wool swimsuit bathing suit. Sheath style scoop neck button front suit is made from wool. The gusset is lined. Elasticized leg openings. The label has been clipped, but the magazine article and the on line retrospective shows that this is clearly a Gernreich swimsuit. There looks to be a very small repair at the back of one of the leg openings, and a stitch which may be needed at the shoulder, otherwise this suit is in excellent condition.

Vintage 50's Catalina Atomic Ethnic Print Swimsuit Bathing Suit sz 10/32. This suit is from the Catalina Sweethearts in Swimsuits Series, the print is Called Pharaoh's Darling. Cotton print suit has a twist bust line. Swimsuit has two front seams that are completely shirred with elastic at the seams giving this suit directional fit and interest The back is completely shirred with elastic. The shoulder straps are adjustable with buttons and can be worn straight over the shoulders, crossed int eh back or tied behind the neck. The bust is lined and has side stays. The gusset is also lined. Swimsuit is in excellent vintage condition.

Vintage early 50's Catalina Sarong Style Draped Swimsuit Bathing Suit 16/38. Sweet cotton batik style patterned swimsuit in shades of peach, orange, teal and pink. Overlay panel Surplice style bust is gathered at the center cups. Sarong style draping at the side hips creating a skirted modesty panel front. Back is completely shirred with elastic. Shoulder straps are adjustable in back with buttons and can be worn crossed, straight or tied behind the neck. Fabric is cotton with no stretch but the shirred elastic back gives this suit a great fit. Bust is lined and lightly padded, front and gusset are lined. Swimsuit is in excellent condition.

Vintage 50's Jantzen Plaid Shirred Ruffled Swimsuit Bathing Suit 18. Cute blue, green, red, khaki and white comprise the plaid of this suit. Bust is pleated and had 3 rows of gathered ruffles. The front bodice has two rows or shirred vertical ruffles with elastic giving this a gathered look and a wonderful fit. The sides and back are completely shirred with elastic. Modesty panel at the front, elasticized leg openings. Shoulder straps are adjustable with buttons at the front bust line. Bust is lined and boned for support. The front, sides and gusset are also lined. No fiber content labels, a nice lightweight cotton material. The elastic gives the fit in this suit. Swimsuit excellent condition.

Vintage 50's polished cotton rose bud print play suit swimsuit, size 38. Halter neck style suit is so sweet, the halter ties behind the neck. Shorts type bottoms with inner elasticized leg openings. The sides of the bodice are completely shirred with elastic so to give a fitted look. Back metal zipper closure with inner placket. Inner placket also has a button closure. Bust has three small pleats at the center. The bust is lined and boned for support. Suit is fully lined. Crisp white polished cotton with a small pink rose bud print. Marked a size 38. No fiber content tags or other labels are present. Swimsuit is in excellent condition, looks brand new. Most likely 100% cotton, no stretch to material with the exception of the side shirring.

You're sure to make waves in this darling vintage 40's 2 Piece Satin Lastex Bikini Swimsuit Bathing Suit! From Catalina, size 36 weight 115/130. The top has fagot stitching at center bust and under the bust. Ties at the back and at the neckline halter style. The high waist bottoms have an internal tie waist casing with elastic boy cut leg openings. Modesty panel in front. The bottoms have a lined gusset. Beautiful gold color with a shiny wave like pattern throughout. There are some very faint spots on the front modesty panel, you have to look hard to see them and a slight bit of surface pilling to the rear. Swimsuit has 2 way stretch from side to side. We believe the fabric to be a satin lastex. Absolutely stunning find.
