emma domb 1940s forties draped print one shoulder goddess dress

This dress is so vivid, slinky and confident that it almost looks too good to be true! The label says otherwise though: Party Lines by Domb, the very first label used by the Californian Queen of Party Dresses, Emma Domb. It hugs your curves, the structure of the ruched waist enhancing the hourglass effect. I love the exotic print, grapes and flowers in vivid greens and purples. The one-shoulder design is beautifully executed and drapes elegantly. It's definitely designed for a confident siren and is perfect for lounging around drinking cocktails, with ruby red lips blazing and loosely curled hair cascading over your bare shoulder.

janice wainwright cheetah print maxi dress boutique seventies 1970s

Utterly fierce, in the best kind of way, is this amazing cheetah print Janice Wainwright dress from around 1970 and possibly one of the last she ever did for the Simon Massey company. Very transparent, just to warn you, and very sexy in a gossamer light lurex fabric. She's balanced it very beautifully; the transparency and brashness of the fabric is tempered by the lack of flesh on show. Much like her friend Ossie Clark, she was incredibly good at knowing how to flatter and enhance by covering up where necessary. But this is no cover-up for a shrinking violet. This requires a certain amount of chutzpah and some equally fierce hair and make-up!

biba deco print jumpsuit vintage 1970s seventies catsuit playsuit

Just about one of the most fabulous examples of Biba I've had the pleasure to handle. Almost too Biba to be really Biba, but fear not - it's the real deal! A superb early 1970s jumpsuit, the scrumptious claret and cream colours are as vivid as ever and the horse-racing repeat print as an absolute delight! Taking heavy inspiration from the beach-orientated playsuits of the Thirties and Forties, boutiques like Biba and Bus Stop used the style and silhouette to create these timelessly stylish and sexy jumpsuits. I particularly love the halter and bra-cup cut of this one, and the super wide leg cut of the trousers. Long, languorous and lean....wildly decadent and evocative of the time. Just add a feather capelet, heavily kohled eyes and a perfect cupid's bow claret-shaded pout....
