So notwithstanding the que ridiculo pricetag, I'm happy to see uber fancy shoes with a super walkable wedge. I just hope that someone with a bit of integrity in their quality decides to knock this off, instead of the f-21 nonsense.
I do love a nice sandal with a low wedge, but that's not even the most notable feature here. There's a dash of homage to the gladiator trend with all the strappy activity on the top of the foot, but those criss crosses and the topstitched detail on the patent and the silver buckle all make this a very, very attractive piggy-bearing summertime option.
Good gravy! This green patent thing is everywhere all of a sudden. This is definitely a dressier take, and while I wouldn't necessarily shy away from buying* them for my own two tootsies, I wouldn't be able to hoof it to work in them everyday (or, like, ever). But they are awful pretty. *I'm talking at a majorly reduced, ebay-gold-ribbon-winner-purchase kind of way, not for $600. Heavens no!
I'm currently in the market (I think) for a work-ready pair of go-to black sandals for the summer. I fear Costume Nationals might not be the way I want to head, in terms of comfort and durability and cost and et cetera, but it's always nice to see a good lookin' pair of shoes that have low low heels. So kudos.
Again with the white patent, again with the Roberto del Carlo Spring 2008 collection. What can I say? I'm a creature of habit. Bonus points to RdC for bringing me full circle, back into the season of rebirth and baby animals and whatnot, with the grey suede and white patent combo. I was digging the suede + patent in darker colors over the winter--he must've known.
Clergerie has a similar style for spring '08, with the medium-height suede wedge with strappy business on the front--and I'm all over both of them, at least. I think RdC is super at designing simple shoes that are still quite striking. I mean, I'd wear about a hundred pairs of these before most of the drek that steve-o madden comes up with (that he doesn't blatantly steal from louboutin, that is).
Good gravy! What is it with this guy? It's like he and I and Madame Cleo* are connected in a system of triangulated footwear perfection. I love these--and it's like he knew I would. *does anyone even remember her?
