Holy crap; I love this mess. This would be a great project for a nice ombre fabric. Very fifties glam and breathable in this cotton-silk organdy (plus it's lined).

This is a great style for that batou neckline; I love the darts, the midriff band, the chunky straps at the sleeveline, the length, and that color! Boy howdy. I think I could nix the v-shaped back with the bow, though. Very sixties-sheath-dress on ya.

DUDE. Finally. I feel like I've looked for ages for a genuine sailor pants pattern. The straight legs, the grommets and lacing in the back and--yes, yes, with the forty-six buttons in the front you have to undo every time you go to the powder room. But seriously: it took way too long for this pattern to pop up somewhere.

This mess is SO thirties; I bet you a thousand 1932-dollars that Jean Harlow strutted around in this dress circa Red-Headed Woman. You know, like three feet longer is all. $1,950, silk crepe.

Even nordy's description says this is all kinds of 1940s. The wrap dress with bow interest, the wide lapels, the short sleeves, the knee-length--your grandma is remembering this picture perfect.

I think Chie Mihara did this better, but I have been feeling this heeled oxford thing lately. I like the woven texture of the upper and the laces, though that heel is a little chintzy lookin' with its stackedness. Plus it's too high. Meh.

You want vintage? Here you go. Re-mix has some excellent styles that are pretty satisfactory for even the most discriminating (read: perfectionistic) tastes out there. I do wish they were a little better quality, though.

Cute lightweight cotton blouse; the longer length makes it nice to wear with slacks or trim skirts, and it's perfect for summer with its cotton self. A bit '30s in the neckline ruffles and half-cap, half-flutter sleeves, and the print is sort of a precursor to the boisterous feedsack prints of the forties.
