This is a great style for that batou neckline; I love the darts, the midriff band, the chunky straps at the sleeveline, the length, and that color! Boy howdy. I think I could nix the v-shaped back with the bow, though. Very sixties-sheath-dress on ya.
The simplicity of this blouse/shell is just really nice. It's the kind of thing that I wouldn't always take a second, longer glance at, but if I did? I totally get rewarded for it. the oranger shade of coral is nice, the silk-cotton blend is cool for climbing temps, it's interesting without being all crazy high-maintenance, and you can play it all cool and vintage, from the 30s up through the 80s, without looking like you got a part-time job as the community theatre costume director. Which, naturally, is the best way to play up vintage.
I totally dig on the navy with black, and who wouldn't love the fantastic hand and perfect drape of a silk jersey? I'm just a touch curious about the collar-lapel business up there, 'cause I can't quite make out the details.
I'm not sure I could look good in a trim, below-the-knee silk skirt, but it is tempting to try it out. I love pleated silk--just think it's classy--and that underskirt with the peekaboo whatsit? I am yanking that back into the long tunic with skirt trend of the mid-to-late 1930s. Which I totally adore, natch.
Terrific use of an ombre pattern--not to mention the most excellent incorporation of stripes into that fade-y aspect. This is divine: the elbow-length sleeve, the contrasting midriff band with sash to give the look of a two-fabric obi, the lightweight cowl neck all.
uh, well, that's not really a cowl neck, it's just low-cut and has an unpressed binding. What-ev's. It's not like miuccia prada is all waaay up on my list of women to emulate. I do like the box pleated front and the color's lovely.
I'm all about the poofy yet floaty sleeves, and the tuck-action stuff up at the neckline, and that looong slit in the back topped with two small covered buttons and, I Can See It, self-fabric loops. Also: yes, I do love that color, regardless of what it might do to my own pallor; is that like a dysfunctional relationship, or what?
neat take on a peter pan collar, and I love those elbow length sleeves and the two-fer buttons on the closure strip. I might just wanna add a little bit of dartly shaping through the waist, 'cause these lines would look like a potato sack on me.
