Holy crap; I love this mess. This would be a great project for a nice ombre fabric. Very fifties glam and breathable in this cotton-silk organdy (plus it's lined).

This is a great style for that batou neckline; I love the darts, the midriff band, the chunky straps at the sleeveline, the length, and that color! Boy howdy. I think I could nix the v-shaped back with the bow, though. Very sixties-sheath-dress on ya.

This mess is SO thirties; I bet you a thousand 1932-dollars that Jean Harlow strutted around in this dress circa Red-Headed Woman. You know, like three feet longer is all. $1,950, silk crepe.

the waist treatment is different, as this might not be a true wrap dress , but the similarities are pretty evident.

Even nordy's description says this is all kinds of 1940s. The wrap dress with bow interest, the wide lapels, the short sleeves, the knee-length--your grandma is remembering this picture perfect.

Separated at birth, no? Whip this baby out and feel like a thrifty genius--that's what I do.

This can be a tricky cut--nobody's gonna debate that one--but it's cute and as long as it hangs on you right, you can go crazy and have the flourless chocolate cake for dessert. It's two parts mod, the sixties-mod and the modern-mod, so you can be retro and contemporary all in the same fell swoop.

I like the border print, but I think I'd like it better if they met at the waistline instead of being grounded at the waist and hem, respectively.

So I can't pull off this much yellow--so what? This is an architecturally sound time machine that whips the wiggle dresses of yore into This.Very.Summer. Are you ready for the ride?!

Very sixties! I'm just now warming to the trim shifts that were everywhere in the early-to-mid 1960s, and I totally have a pattern that has a tie-neck collar. It's not quite this low, but this is lovely. Simple navy polished cotton, neckline interest, sharp pleats in the skirt, tie sash instead of a belt--super excellent.
