I don't think I'd quite wear this, unless maybe it were in the "evening," but I do love that stand-up collar and the straight-sleeved elbow length love going on there. It's very fifties glam with a dash of the inherent cuteness of the time, but really: do we expect anything less from Nanette Lepore?
I'm all about some navy this autumn--a move that I wouldn't at all have suspected like a year ago. I have a couple yards of melton in my stash, but this styling is very tempting in a lighter weight wool blend--I am so all about the tailoring and seams and that fancy tulip hem. Very nice.
Again with the contrast--I'm not huge on the slightly abstract (and therefore off-center) print of the b&w fabric, but I think I like the idea. This would be real nice in a non-traditional color combo, like seafoam green and a grey-based sienna brown.
Love the clean lines and the blunt-ended peter pan collar (that rounded, cutesy stuff is only good for one or two of my wardrobe items--after that I start talking in a wittle baby giwl voice, like Thelma Todd in the canoe scene with Professor Wagstaff in "Horse Feathers"). I like the ochre color better, though; fantastic idea for silk dupioni.
Good: topstitching waist detail; oversized shawl collar; minimal button closure expanse. Bad: dude, is that fleece? B-A-R-F. No way, man. I want worsted wool and velveteen, stat--and if you're sold on a twill, I still think you could rock some charcoal grey cotton velveteen. Just sayin'.
