According to Now Smell This, the notes include lemon, green apple, rose and amber. Compared with Stella, Sheer Stella is generally more cooling and fresh than sensual. For me, it is a very lovely scent that is never too sweet or powdery, great for a warm summer day. (I hope we will have a decent summer in the UK this year...)

Voluspa presents a fragrant oil diffuser in an elegant glass bottle embossed with their signature Japonica floral design. A bundle of 15 bamboo reeds will gently absorb the fragrance and diffuse the scent when air drifts past them. Each reed is full of tiny air pockets that saturate with fragrance and release scent into the air continuously. Baltic Amber is a blend of amber, resin, sandalwood, cedar and vanilla bloom. For initial use: Place the reeds into the bottle of fragrance and allow to absorb for one hour. Then reverse the sticks and allow the oil to once again saturate for up to an hour. To refresh, reverse the sticks to release the desired amount of fragrance.

The sensuality, at times dirtiness of the perfume, is in no small measure due to a generous dose of civet in the base notes. Blended with vanilla and rose, the animalic ingredient lends Ubar that ambiguous gourmand/erotic quality that makes one wonder whether one should crave to drink it or to lust after it. Civet also turns the initially fairly modern scent into, dare I say, an old-fashioned one, in the best way possible. With its velvety feel, its unapologetic luxuriousness, its satisfying substantionality, Ubar could be standing next to Shalimar on a chic Parisian shelf, back in 1921.

Come La Luna as “citrus-spicy-amber” and lists its notes as Sicily mandarin, Sicily sweet orange, rose wood, pink pepper, coriander, Indonesian patchouli, amber, and incense. The combination sounds good but not particularly remarkable. On skin, however, Come La Luna shows itself as an aristocratic wood scent: serious and elegant, but with a vein of coriander running through it that registers as intimate and slightly naughty. Picture an immaculate mahogany end table, the aroma of the orange oil used to polish it still in the air. Now imagine a naked woman sitting on it, and you begin to get the idea. Amber, which can overwhelm some fragrances, is subtle here and doesn’t weigh the fragrance down at all. Come La Luna has average sillage and lasting power.
