Description

Legendary DJ Norman Jay MBE is one of England's foremost DJs since his involvement with London's Notting Hill Carnival in 1980. He has pioneered the sound of rare grooves, house, and acid jazz. In November 2002, Norman was awarded a well deserved MBE - one of the highest accolades given to citizens who live under the English monarchy - for his "services to music and DJing." He was the first DJ ever to be afforded such an honor.

Based on his BBC London radio show of the same name, Giant 45 spans Norman's finer tastes in soul, funk, house, hip hop and everything in between. An inspired collection of tunes for home listening rather than street carnival style, Giant 45 represents Norman at his most soulful style. Giant 45, via Internet radio as well as traditional radio airwaves, has a loyal listener-ship that's growing worldwide.

Highlights from the double-CD include tracks from legendary artists such as Barry White, Aretha Franklin, and Marvin Gave, as well as more recent offerings from Ultra Naté, Nitin Sawhney, and Incognito. The end result is romantic, sentimental and soulful - the perfect combination of classics and contemporary.
