Motivated to bring new creations to Peru's silver industry, she has taught the trade since 1992 when she assisted in a Netherlands workshop, and today she teaches in her home city of Lima. Lira playfully combines silver, gemstones, and occasionally 18-karat gold in her designs. 'Original, hand-crafted work has its own special enchantment,' she says. 'In my case, my work results from a fusion of influences from two continents: the Americas and Europe.'
