The hippopotamus is the second-largest mammal in the world - only the elephant is bigger. The hippopotamus lives in Africa, spending most of its time submerged in rivers, lakes, and swamps. Hippos are enormous, but also quite agile in the water, being surprisingly good swimmers. When provoked, they can be quite dangerous.
