"The silver alloy is melted and poured into a terracotta container and when it sets the silversmith beats it with hammers into a sheet and cuts it into the desired shape. A coat of an oil and pitch mixture is spread over a wooden surface where the sheet is fixed before engraving it with chisels and nails and beaten into the desired curved shape. Once engraved, the piece is heated again to remove the pitch and placed into a bath of boiling acid to rinse out the impurities. The piece is rinsed in a tamarind, then in water, dried and filed with a small brass brush to be finally polished with a cloth." .925 silver rating
