2008 collection from the early R&B outfit featuring Jackie Wilson and Clyde McPhatter. Put together by svengali Billy Ward in the early '50s, they soon became a hitmaking machine. This CD concentrates on the group's early hits which had a profound effect on the development of R&B music over the following decades. This collection features the vocal talents of both Jackie Wilson and Clyde McPhatter. Wilson would of course go on to international solo stardom until the mid- seventies. Mcphatter was enticed out of the group by Atlantic Records who formed a new group around him - The Drifters. Acrobat.
