This high performance zoom lens covers focal lengths from standard-to-super telephoto range, which is ideal for film and digital cameras. This lens uses SLD (Special Low Dispersion) glass which compensates for color aberration to provide sharp images. The super coating on each glass surface produces superb color rendition, reducing flare and ghosting. In addition, this lens also features a Zoom Lock device to eliminate 'Zoom Creep' when the lens is tilted down.When the lens is set to the 50 mm focal length, it is compact and provides easy handling. The tripod mount is composed of magnesium, to minimize total weight and also it is easy to grip and carry the lens due to its comfortable design. The non-rotating front lens elements have a rear focus mechanism that permits the use of a custom bayonet 'Petal-type Hood' to prevent extraneous light from degrading the image quality. This mechanism also allows the use of circular polarizing filters, since the front barrel does not rotate during focusing or zooming. This lens is compatible with the Nikon D40 and D40x Digital SLR Cameras.
