About The Artisan
Tara Projects' "fair trade, not aid!" mission began in 1973 with university students seeking to end the suffering of "untouchables" in Dehli, India - those bound into harsh conditions by the caste system. Tara has since assisted many to become skilled artisans who work in safe environments and earn fair wages while benefiting from health care, education, and retirement planning. Impacting over 1,000 artisans and educating over 1,100 students, Tara makes a profound impact on their community.
