Description

The Coral Pendant (2004) is the result of two influences: the repeating patterns of ice crystals David Trubridge saw in Antarctica and the similar patterns he saw in underwater coral. Such inspirations are the norm for Trubridge, who spent years traveling and studying nature before creating his pendant collection: Kina, Coral and Koura. In addition to how they echo patterns found in nature, these pendants are created using the minimum amount of materials for maximum effect. Trubridge wants his footprint on earth to be like a sailboat that slips through the water but leaves no trace after it has gone. The analogy is fitting for a designer who holds a degree in naval architecture and lived on a boat for four years, sailing from Britain to New Zealand, which is now his home. En route, Trubridge built entire houses of furniture for clients in the Caribbean and Tahiti. He was forced to work with limited facilities and supplies, but these experiences taught him about economy and creative design. The Coral Pendant arrives unassembled to make shipping more efficient and to reduce the amount of packing materials. Instructions for simple assembly are included and no tools are required. The Green Leaf Award celebrates an artist's ability to inspire and engage the public in environmental awareness and action. UL listed. Bulb (not included): incandescent globe 100W/120V/E26/G25 frosted.

The memory of those organic sculptures peeking out from her flower beds is etched forever in my mind. Real wood and especially faux bois (that’s French for fake wood) is all the ...

  • Necklace Pendants

Even in the stone age, people wore necklaces. Scientists have found rudimentary necklaces with shells, animal bone, and rock on string as far back 30,000 B.C. It was said that Napoleon started a war over the necklace Marie Antoinette purchased. Over the centuries jewelry has greatly evolved, and today you can find many beautiful styles either though using the internet or simply stopping off at you...
