Antique Maps Wall Calendar: An antique map is both a slice of time-a glimpse of the sociopolitical climate of its age-and a work of art. The cartographer was both tradesman and artist, and each map reflects its creators sensibility. This calendar reproduces twelve spectacular antique maps-of the world and various regions-drawn from three collections of The New York Public Library. Dating from the sixteenth to the eighteenth century, they transport us to a time when the world was still largely uncharted, cultures were discovering one another, and a global village was only just being born.
