The 1918 World Series featured a Boston Red Sox team that had already captured four World Series titles. For the first time in his career Babe Ruth split time between the mound and the outfield. In previous World Series appearances Ruth racked up a total of 13 innings without giving up a run. His pitching against the Cubs in the 1918 series and raised his shutout streak to 29 innings.
