However, men out there who want something a little different and want to stand out will perhaps consider them. Cardigans, which button up the front, and sweater vests are often considered unfashionable now, and cardigans in particular are often considered an older man’s garment, suitable for the rocking chair, although the urban hipster crowd is rehabbing their reputation slowly. It’s also best to stay away from what are nicknamed “Cosby sweaters,” named for the often wildly colored and patterned sweaters Bill Cosby wore on his 1980s sitcom.

You’ll want to buy men’s sweaters made from top quality fabrics and materials in order for these sweaters to keep their original shapes for as long as possible. All sweaters should also last longer if proper care is taken while washing as well as when storing them. It is often recommended to use hand wash when washing sweaters with lukewarm water. This is usually the best way to care for your sweaters as you will be able to control the way your sweaters are being handled, rather than sending them out. You may still need to read the instructions on how best to care and wash your sweaters as some sweaters can handle gentle machine wash for a few minutes. Either way, at the end of a wash, spreading the sweater flat is generally the preferred method of drying. You can also use hangers to hang them dry by letting it to drip dry as this will keep the sweater its shape.
