Nobody likes shovelling snow off of their driveway, or hiking through snow drifts, but sometimes it has to be done. On the other hand, your kids will want to play in the snow once it’s finished falling, but they won’t be able to without the right equipment. You need to find a nice fitting, comfortable, warm, and most importantly cheap pair of snow boots.
When you go to the store to buy snow boots, remember to shop at a retailer you trust. One of the more popular and affforadable ones isĀ Payless. You should look for boots that are one size bigger than your normal foot size due to the puffy interior of a snow boot. Remember to try them on! If they fit perfectly, then your in good shape. If they dont, then you should find another pair!
When looking for comfortable boots the first thing you should aways see is if there is a some kind of seam in the inside of the boot. If there is, the fabric may cause a blister or may come loose, letting water in the shoe. If they’re solid, walk around a bit like you would with any footwear, and if they feel like they don’t move up and down on the back of your heels, then you should be good to go. Any rubbing at all indicates excess room in the shoe and may lead to blisters or to water getting into the boot.
A good pair of snow boots that will last you a few winters should cost around $50, but if you’re style-conscious or want boots that you can give to your children’s children when you pass on, be prepared to spend a little more money. A good Columbia or Timberland pair can run you between $80 and $100. A very stylish brand like Malo can run above $200 but provide you with more than protection. Remember that even in areas that are accustomed to heavy snowfall, the big stores may not have a very large selection available. Purchasing online really is your best option for snow boots.
Have fun shopping, and stay warm!
